Minster Group shortlisted for the Greater Lincolnshire Construction & Property Awards 2022
Minster Group is proud to have been shortlisted for the annual Greater Lincolnshire Construction and Property Awards 2022 organised by the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce.
Our recent work – which saw us recycle waste materials from the Pelham Bridge refurbishment into a brand new foot and cycle path between two rural Lincolnshire villages – has made the final of the ‘Sustainable Project of the Year’ category.
Pelham Bridge underwent major essential repair and maintenance works in summer 2021 which included cutting expansion joints into the bridge, resurfacing the road and footpath and installing additional safety barriers.
As part of this extensive project, Minster Group was appointed by Balfour Beatty to remove, crush and screen the old concrete and road materials stripped from the bridge. These extracted materials were then used to produce a recycled type-one material that was reused for further roadways and infrastructure improvement works.
As part of Minster’s recycling initiative, the type-one material produced from Pelham Bridge, plus other previously recycled road materials, were used to complete a new 2km footpath project which connects Lincolnshire villages, Billinghay and Walcott. As requested by Lincolnshire County Council, the new footpath provides a safer and more suitable route for pedestrians and cyclists.
We’re proud to have played a part in the redevelopment of this iconic Lincoln bridge whilst continuing to modernise and improve the road infrastructure within our home county. As a team, we are committed to assisting the local authority and central government with their carbon zero pledges.
The winners of the ‘Sustainable Project of the Year’ category, sponsored by Viridis Building Services, will be announced during the annual awards ceremony held at DoubleTree by Hilton in Lincoln on Thursday 3rd February 2022… wish us luck!
