Always on hand: Emergency repairs on roads across Lincolnshire
Lincolnshire is made up of 5,500 miles of roads and 4,387 million vehicle miles were travelled on roads in Lincolnshire in 2024, according to the Department for Transport.
With this in mind, it’s clear that our roads take a lot of hammering and it’s important that damage is repaired as soon as possible, to avoid disruption to traffic flow.
That’s where our team of road surfacing and civil engineering specialists at Minster Group come in. For many years, we have been responding to calls for 24/7 emergency road repairs across Lincolnshire after road traffic accidents and fires, as well as carrying out emergency pothole repairs.
How do we do it?
We work closely alongside Lincolnshire County Council and leading international infrastructure group, Balfour Beatty, to perform emergency patch repairs and pothole repairs.
When roads are in need of repair, the damaged surface must be removed and replaced with a new surface. Where possible, we use cutting edge technology to recycle the old, damaged surface into a new, shiny one – right there on-site. For smaller jobs, we still aim for zero waste, with planings we remove from the old surface being recycled for use on other infrastructure projects.
Through the use of Foambase technology, we can create a foamed bitumen product made from recycled material including asphalt, concrete and rubble. This technology can even be used to safely recycle material containing coal-tar, which is deemed hazardous if not handled and used correctly.
In comparison to using conventional hot asphalt, the production of Foambase produces 30% less CO² and, not only is it made from recycled materials, but we can also recycle it again, giving the material a huge lifespan.
Last year, we saw our emergency road repair techniques put into practice when we were called out to help reopen a major road in Lincolnshire after a lorry tipped off the edge of the road.

While the emergency services supported the driver and a third party removed the vehicle from the scene, we cleaned away debris and repaired the damaged road surface so that this important route could reopen as soon as possible.
Emergency pothole repairs
Working closely with Lincolnshire County Council, we respond quickly to address potholes as soon as we’re instructed. We repair tens of thousands of potholes in Lincolnshire each year and in 2019, Lincolnshire was among the top five UK councils for pothole repair.
To keep our roads smooth and safe, our team of experts use the latest tools and techniques to guarantee quality and effectiveness, as well as using green technology to reduce reliance on quarrying.
Our custom-built asphalt machine, named ‘The Europaver 500’, allows us to fill more potholes, faster than ever. The machine makes new asphalt on demand at each repair site, saving us and our customers money whilst also reducing our carbon footprint.
We’re at the cutting edge of quick, easy and environmentally friendly emergency road repairs; always striving for innovation, as well as researching and developing new technologies to improve the efficiency and sustainability of our operations.
