A46 Dunholme/Welton roundabout

Minster Group is proud to have played a major role in the completion of the A46 Dunholme/Welton roundabout for Lincolnshire County Council.

The £5.6m project, which opened in June 2021, involved excavating 40,000 tonnes of material, installing over two miles of new kerbing and 22 new street lighting columns on behalf of Lincolnshire County Council.

Working alongside Eurovia UK, our teams were contracted to build half a mile of new road, paint three miles of new white lining, and realign and straighten the dangerous bend on Lincoln Road – previously a notorious accident blackspot.

The crest of the hill on the A46 towards Market Rasen was also lowered by two metres to improve visibility for drivers.

The roundabout will now:

  • Improve safety and reduce the number of collisions at this junction
  • Reduce congestion and increase visibility for all road users
  • Accommodate future development in the area

Our teams faced tough weather conditions during the works, but were able to complete the project by June 2021 – significantly improving safety, accessibility and reducing traffic for motorists using this route.

The project has been part-funded by the £2m allocated to the council by the Department for Transport, with the rest of the money coming from third party contributors and Lincolnshire County Council.
